California 2018

We took a trip to California to see my Gran and Poppy Sexton.  We left Oregon on Thursday night after I got off work early.  We drove all the way down to McKinnleyville, CA on the northern coast of California.  We drove through a couple areas in Oregon that were dealing with summer forest fires.  We spent the night in McKinnleyville, south of the Redwood National and State forest.  The next day (Friday) we drove down through Eureka, CA (nothing like the town shown in the SyFy television show which we loved!) and drove to the “Avenue of Giants” to see some of the largest trees ever.IMG_2917IMG_293320180803_12402920180803_12414420180803_12434120180803_13272520180803_133037IMG_2921IMG_2922IMG_2939IMG_2943

After our travel through the redwoods, we continued on down to Sacramento.  We weren’t able to make it to see Gran and Poppy Friday because it got to be too late.  Saturday we saw and visited with Gran and Poppy, and had dinner with my cousin Andrea and her family all at Gran and Poppy’s.

Then on Sunday we remade a photo we took in 2010.

Robert on the blog

Well here I am again.  Finally got a new computer and thought I’d see if I still have any blogging skills.  Probably not, but here goes…

It is August 1, 2018 and come tomorrow I will have been working at McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center for 8 years!!  It may only be 8 years, but it feels like 20!  The hospital I call my home away from home has gone through some major changes in the 8 years I’ve been there.  Just last July 2017 we opened a new tower and in May of this year we opened a new ER section.  I say section, because the old ER is being remodeled in sections.  First we get the new section which is open and running, and then in November (or so they say) the second section or “phase” will open giving us more exam rooms (29).  Then when “phase” 3 is complete (January 2019 they say), there will be 39 ER exam rooms!  It’s been great seeing the hospital grow and our services to the community grow with it.  Ok, enough about work.

Heather is still working for Peacehealth Riverbend and selling Lipsense on the side.  She has been doing really well with it and has a Facebook group where she sells it.  Andrew is now a teenager.. yikes!  He will be starting 8th grade in the fall at Agnes Stewart where he has been going for 6th and 7th grades as well.  Isabella is 11, and finished up the 4th and 5th grades at Mt. Vernon Elementary.  She will be starting up 6th grade in the fall at Agnes Stewart as well.
